3. Protect your POD

Personal

Most people know what their Point of Difference is.

Not enough people protect it.

As captain, Sunday to Wednesday belonged to the team. Alignment, strategy, standards and attitude. Those things came first during that time.

The questions around my own performance were always there and were always important, things like:

What do I need this week?

How do I play my absolute best this weekend?

But only once the team was aligned, could I give those questions my full attention.

Thursday to Saturday became about protecting my POD.

It wasn’t selfish. It was responsibility.

Because the main thing I could give the team was my best possible performance.

Team

The strongest teams aren’t just organised. They’re intentional with their time.

Players know what makes them valuable individually and create time to make sure it’s present.

Leaders make sure the team comes first, but they also allow players to do the different things in order for them to perform.

POD isn’t just individual.

It’s a team discipline.

Final Thought

The best performers know what they need.

They don’t leave it to chance.

They create space to focus on it and protect it.

Because their greatest contribution to the team is bringing the best version of themselves.
